Design your dream, then find the way
A dream without a design stays a wish. How I turn a big dream into a clear picture, and then work backwards to the first step.
Everyone has dreams. Very few people design them. A dream is a feeling. A design is a picture so clear that you can draw it on paper.
When I say I want Keyzone to be the best software company in AI and SaaS, that is my dream. But to make it real, I had to ask harder questions. Best for whom? Doing what? By when? What will it look like on the day I reach it?
Here is the method I use. First, describe the finished dream in detail, as if it has already happened. Second, ask: what must be true one year before that? Then one year before that? Keep going back until you reach today. Third, find the smallest step you can take this week.
You do not need to know the whole road on day one. When you drive at night, your headlights show only the next 50 metres. That is enough. You reach the city 50 metres at a time.
So design your dream first. Make it clear. Then the way will start to appear, one step at a time.
